Environmental Chambers
Environmental chambers are used to create a certain environmental condition in an artificial manner. This can be used either to simulate natural conditions within a laboratory or to study the effects of the created environment on a sample. Some of the conditions that can be manipulated include temperature, humidity, exposure to light etc. Environmental test chambers are popularly used in plant biology experiments, wherein, plants are placed within controlled conditions and the effects of various environmental conditions such as varied photoperiods, light intensity, humidity, carbon dioxide levels, etc. can be tested. These chambers can be of different sizes. Sizes ranging from desktop chambers to walk-in chambers are available. To facilitate viewing and study of the changes occurring in the sample within the chamber, the interiors are sometimes fit with cameras. These environmental chambers are designed in different volume capacities. Both table-top, as well as walk-in environmental chambers are available. Just like all other equipment in a biological laboratory, environmental chambers are also designed to meet the high standards of sterility required.
