Laminar Air Flow

Laminar Air Flow

Laminar air flows are widely used to conduct experiments in an aseptic environment. In biological experiments, laminar air flows are some of the most essential equipment in culture handling and other experimental protocols. Generally, laminar air flows are designed to be a sterile work bench. Hence the equipment design creates a sterile work bench, devoid of particulate matter. Generally, laminar air flows are constructed of sterile steel with no gaps. This prevents build-up of microbes and particulate matter. The air which enters the laminar hood is passed through a series of filters known as HEPA filters (high efficiency particulate air). This traps the tiny particulate matter in the air a prevents it from entering the clean bench area. Further, a laminar flow of air is maintained within the equipment such that the air blows only toward the user and the only air that enters the clean area passes through the HEPA filters. Laminar air flows usually have a germicidal UV lamp which is used to sterilize the area before the work is begun. Four configurations of laminar flow cabinets are available vertical and horizontal laminar flow cabinets, laminar flow cabinets and booths, laminar flow benches and booths.

Biomall offers laminar air flows of different types manufactured by various brands such as Labtop.
