PCR Master Mixes
PCR Master Mix is a preparation solution that includes necessary components such as Nuclease-Free Water, Taq DNA polymerase, dNTPs, MgCl2 and reaction buffers at optimal concentrations for PCR procedures. PCR or polymerase chain reaction is a molecular biology technique used for the amplification of a single copy or a few copies of a segment of DNA to yield a high number of copies.
Nucleotides are present in the master mix to form the strands complementary to the existing strands of DNA during the PCR process. The other components of the master mix include primers which identify the DNA replication initiation site. DNA polymerase which is generally Taqpolymerase, extends the primers and assembles the nucleotides to the existing DNA strand. A salt buffer is present which maintains a neutral pH for the PCR reaction to occur and the incorporated magnesium is a cofactor required by DNA polymerase.
