20X MOPS-SDS Running Buffer is supplied by HiMedia. It is available in the form of a colourless solution. This buffer is formulated for running proteins on Bis-Tris gels only. 20X MOPS-SDS Running Buffer is recommended for separating medium- to large-sized proteins. This pre-mixed buffer is supplied as a 20X concentrated solution. 20X MOPS-SDS Running Buffer is composed of 1M MOPS, 1M Tris base, 2% SDS and 20mM EDTA. It is advisable to store this product between 15-25C.

Bis-Tris gels are polyacrylamide gels designed to give optimal separation of small to medium sized proteins under denaturing conditions. In contrast to the alkaline conditions of SDS-PAGE gels, Bis-Tris gels are acidic. A reducing agent, Sodium bisulphite, has to be added in this buffer before electrophoresis. This reducing agent helps in preventing disulphide bond formation. This buffer is provided as a 20X concentrated solution which has to be diluted with de-ionised water. Each time before use, add fresh Sodium bisulphite to a final concentration of 5 mM from a 1M stock. 20X MOPS-SDS Running Buffer is useful for high resolution of proteins on Bis-Tris gels.
