PRODUCT DETAILS

Acetone by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is high grade reagent. Also known as propanone, this organic compound is the simplest ketone found. The reagent is available as a colourless liquid with a pungent, floral, cucumber like odour, which is miscible in water, benzene, diethyl ether, methanol, chloroform and even ethanol. Acetone is normally produced in the body, found in blood and also disposed of in the urine. It is produced directly or indirectly from propylene, in the cumene process. CAS No. 67-64-1 Quantity Provided: 2.5 litres per pack Molecular formula: C3H6O Molecular weight: 58.08 Analytical grade reagent Assay: Minimum 99.5 % Acetone has a wide range of applications in various sectors. Acetone is widely used as a solvent and a precursor to methyl methacrylate. It is often used for thinning polyester resin, cleaning tools used with it, and for dissolving two-part epoxies and superglue before they harden. Acetone is also used to synthesize Bisphenol A, which is a component of major polymers such as polycarbonates, polyurethanes, and epoxy resins. In laboratory applications, it is used as a polar, aprotic solvent in a variety of organic reactions, such as SN2 reactions. Furthermore, acetone is commonly used for rinsing laboratory. Since it is fluorescent under ultraviolet light, its vapour can be used as a fluorescent tracer in fluid flow experiments.
