AMMONIUM PURPURATE solution is a product provided by Research-Lab Fine Chem Industries. Laboratory reagents are chemicals which are used in laboratories as a part of experimental procedures. These reagents can be important parts of chemical reactions, analytical reagents or starting material for the production of other materials.

AMMONIUM PURPURATE solution is the ammonium salt of purpuric acid. It is slightly soluble in water, and insoluble in alcohol. In solution, the colour ranges with pH, from yellow when strong acidic, to reddish-purple when weakly acidic and blue-purple in alkaline solutions. Murexide can be synthesized by heating alloxantin in ammonia gas to 100C, or by boiling uramil (5-aminobarbituric acid) with mercury oxide. Ammonium purpurate has a variety of applications in chemical and biological sectors. This compound is vastly used as a complexometric indicator in analytical chemistry for complexometric titrations of calcium, copper nickel and cobalt as well as rare-earth metals. It is researched as a promising enhancer of sonochemical destruction of chlorinated hydrocarbon pollutants. Murexide is additionally, an inhibitor of dihydrofolate reductase. This reagent is suitable for industrial synthesis of products and research applications.
