ANTHRACENE (purified) is a product provided by Research-Lab Fine Chem Industries. Laboratory reagents are chemicals which are used in laboratories as a part of experimental procedures. These reagents can be important parts of chemical reactions, analytical reagents or starting material for the production of other materials.
This ANTHRACENE is purified and is of laboratory grade. This organic compound is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH). The reagent is available as a powder which soluble in water, alcohol and acetone. It is a minor component of coal tar which is a major source of anthracene. It can also be prepared by cyclodehydration of o-methyl- or o-methylene-substituted diarylketones in the so-called Elbs reaction. Anthracene has a variety of applications in chemical and biological sectors. This compound is primarily converted into anthraquinone, which is a precursor to dyes. A wide range of anthracene derivatives find specialized uses. It is also used in wood preservatives, insecticides, and coating materials. It is commonly used as a UV tracer in conformal coatings applied to printed wiring boards. It is also a wide band-gap organic semiconductor, which is used as a scintillator for detectors of high energy photons, electrons and alpha particles. This reagent is suitable for industrial synthesis of products and research applications.
