Anthracene by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. This organic compound is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH). The reagent is available as a powder which soluble in water, alcohol and acetone. It has a melting point at 215 C, and a boiling point at 339 C. It is a minor component of coal tar which is a major source of anthracene. It can also be prepared by cyclodehydration of o-methyl- or o-methylene-substituted diarylketones in the so-called Elbs reaction. CAS No.: 120-12-7 Quantity Provided: 25 gm per bottle Molecular formula: C14H10 Molecular weight: 178.22 Assay: minimum 99 % Scintillation grade reagentAnthracene has a variety of applications in chemical and biological sectors. This compound is primarily converted into anthraquinone, which is a precursor to dyes. A wide range of anthracene derivatives find specialized uses. It is also used in wood preservatives, insecticides, and coating materials. It is commonly used as a UV tracer in conformal coatings applied to printed wiring boards. It is also a wide band-gap organic semiconductor, which is used as a scintillator for detectors of high energy photons, electrons and alpha particles. This reagent is suitable for industrial synthesis of products and research applications.
