BARIUM SULPHATE (precipitated) is a product provided by Research-Lab Fine Chem Industries. Laboratory reagents are chemicals which are used in laboratories as a part of experimental procedures. These reagents can be important parts of chemical reactions, analytical reagents or starting material for the production of other materials.
This BARIUM SULPHATE (precipitated) is of laboratory grade. This compound is a sulphate salt of barium. The reagent is available as a crystalline white powder which is insoluble in water and alcohol. While it is stable under general conditions, it is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents and must be stored carefully. To obtain this compound, the mineral barite is processed by carbothermal reduction yielding barium sulphide, which reacts with sulphuric acid to produce barium sulphate. Precipitated Barium sulphate has a variety of applications in chemical and biological sectors. A major portion of this reagent is utilized as a component of oil well drilling fluid. It is also used as a component of white pigment for paints. Barium sulphate is employed as a radiocontrast agent for X-ray imaging and other diagnostic procedures. It is furthermore used as a filler for plastics to increase the density of the polymer in vibrational mass damping applications. This reagent is suitable for industrial synthesis of products and research applications.
