This test is based on a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay.

It detects and differentiates both IgG and IgM antibody.

The test has a conjugate pad containing theCHIK antigens conjugated with colloidal gold and rabbit IgG-gold conjugates.

It also has a nitrocellulose membrane strip containing a test line and a control line (C line).

The T band is pre-coated with anti-human Ig Mreagent, and the C band is pre-coated with goat anti-rabbit IG.

The sample is dispensed into a sample well. It migrates due to capillary action.

In case of the presence of the antibody IgM, a burgundy colour appears on the T line, indicating a positive test result

It also contains an internal control C line which must develop a burgundy colour.
