This test is a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay.

There are 2 detection panels. The left one for IgM detection and the right one for IgG detection.

The left panel contains the mouse anti human IgM conjugated with colloidal gold. The test and control bands are present on a nitrocellulose membrane strip. The T band is pre- coated with recombinant CMV antigen, and the C band is pre-coated with goat anti-mouse IgG.

Similarly the right panel has a burgundy colored conjugate pad containing CMV antigens conjugated with colloid gold and rabbit IgG-gold conjugates. The test and control bands are

present on a nitrocellulose membrane strip. The T band is pre-coated with anti-human G antibody, and the C band is pre-coated with goat anti-rabbit IgG.

The sample must be put into the sample well of the cassette.

Capillary action causes the sample to migrate out of the well and bind to the conjugate on the panels.
