Casein hydrolysate enzymatic by MP Biomedicals is a high purity protein. Also known as NZ Amine A, this is a pancreatic hydrolysate of casein, from bovine milk. This preparation is available as a creamy powder which is soluble in water. This hydrolysate contains, in the form of mixed amino acids and peptides, all amino acids originally present in casein. It is a refined product providing high quality soluble source of amino acids, polypeptides and peptides. Casein is a group of phosphoproteins commonly found in mammalian milk. Casein molecules can form gels or clots in the stomach, which makes it very efficient in nutrient supply. Hydrolysed forms are well-known to taste bitter and such supplements are often refused by infants and lab animals in favour of intact casein. It is further used in tooth re-mineralization products to stabilize amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) and release the ACP onto tooth surfaces, where it can facilitate re-mineralization.
