Gel Caster for Submarine Electrophoresis Unit is used to prepare and cast gel matrices of agarose or polyacrylamide for conducting electrophoresis experiments. It usually comprises a tray that securely holds the liquid gel mixture in place until it solidifies into a gel matrix. To use the gel caster, the tray is filled with a liquid gel mixture and a comb is placed at the top of the tray to create wells in the gel matrix for loading samples. After solidification, the comb is removed and the gel matrix is transferred to the electrophoresis unit for further analysis.
