GeNei Transformation Teaching Kit is provided to aid in teaching the technique of bacterial cell transformation in an easy manner. Transformation is the process by which bacterial cells internalize foreign DNA. But before transformation, a bacterial cell must be made competent to take up genetic material in its external environment. The GeNei Transformation Teaching Kit contains all the reagents required to perform the calcium chloride method of competent cell preparation. The kit also contains plasmid DNA which can be used to transform the competent cells. To demonstrate the selection of transformants from the non-transformants, the plasmid carries selection markers for -complementation and blue-white screening.
