Gentamicin-SD166-5CT is an antimicrobial susceptibility disc supplied by HiMedia. The product contains 5CT i.e., 5x50 discs in blister pack. Each disc contains a concentration of 50 mcg/disc. Gentamicin-SD166-5CT is used for antimicrobial susceptibility test by Bauer-Kirby method. It contains filter paper discs of 6mm in diameter with printed GEN 50" at the center on each side of the disc.

The Gentamicin-SD166 discs are placed aseptically on inoculated Mueller Hilton Agar with centers at least 24 mm apart. For fastidious organisms and for Penicillins and Cephalosporins, the discs should preferably be deposited with centers 30 mm apart. Immediately the plates are incubated at 352C for 16-18 hours. For fastidious organisms, incubate at appropriate temperature and time. The diameter of the zones of complete inhibition are measured to the nearest mm.

The Gentamicin-SD166-5CT should be stored at -20C under dry conditions, along with the dessicator provided in indivisual pack.
