Potassium sulphate by MP Biomedicals is a high grade reagent. This is a non-flammable salt of potassium and sulphur. This reagent is available as white granules which is soluble in water or glycerol but is insoluble in ethanol. The solubility in water is decreased in the presence of KCl or (NH4)2SO4 and it is practically insoluble in a saturated solution of the latter. When potassium sulphate is heated in water and subjected to swirling, the crystals form a multi-arm spiral structure when it is allowed to settle.
