RNase A is provided by Genei to suit the needs of molecular biology laboratories. RNase A is an endoribonuclease which catalyses the removal of 5-ribose group from DNA and RNA and removal of the 3-ribose from a neighbouring pyrimidine nucleotide. The RNase A from Genei is isolated from bovine pancreas. The product is given as a vial containing the lyophilized powder and the user may dissolve the powder in analytical grade water at a concentration of 2 mg/mL. This should yield a colourless solution. In the case of this enzyme, one unit of the enzyme is defined as the amount of enzyme which can successfully hydrolyse RNA at a rate at which the velocity constant is equal to 1 (reaction conditions - 25C, pH 5.0).
