High grade Sabouraud Dextrose Broth is supplied by Micromaster. It is available in the form of a cream to yellow homogeneous free flowing powder with a pH in the range of 5.4 to 5.8. This product should be stored between 10-30C in a tightly closed container. Once opened, it should be properly stored, after tightly capping the bottle. Due to the hygroscopic nature of the product, there could be chances of lump formation which can be avoided by proper storage. Store in dry ventilated area protected from extremes of temperature and sources of ignition.

Sabouraud Dextrose Broth (Sabouraud Liquid Medium) is used for the cultivation of yeasts, moulds and aciduric bacteria from pharmaceutical products using the microbial limit testing in compliance with the harmonized methodology of USP/EP/BP/JP. Sabouraud Dextrose Broth is a modification of the medium described by Sabouraud and serves the same purpose as Sabouraud Dextrose Agar Medium. Sabouraud dextrose media are peptone media supplemented with dextrose to support the growth of fungi. Peptone (meat and casein) provides nitrogen, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and growth factors. Dextrose provides an energy source for the growth of microorganisms. The low pH favours fungal growth and inhibits contaminating bacteria from clinical specimens. The acid reaction of the final medium is inhibitory to a large number of bacteria making it particularly useful for cultivating fungi and aciduric microorganisms.
