Stoffel Fragment DNA Polymerase, 1000 U supplied by BLIRT is a recombinant, fragment of thermostable Taq DNA polymerase isolated from Thermus aquaticus that has a molecular weight of 62.7 kDa. It is employed in various applications requiring DNA synthesis in extremely high temperatures. Stoffel fragment is encoded by a modified form of the Thermus aquaticus DNA polymerase gene which has been inserted into an Escherichia coli host. The modified gene encodes a 540 amino acid fragment lacking the N-terminal 292 amino acid portion of the full length TaqNova DNA Polymerase. It is known to be twice as thermostable as TaqNova DNA Polymerase and demands greater concentration levels of MgCl2 and lower ionic strength for its optimum enzymatic activity.
