This test is based on a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay.

It detects and differentiates both IgG and IgM antibody.

The test has a conjugate pad containing monoclonal anti-H. pylori antibody conjugated with colloidal gold.

It also has a nitrocellulose membrane strip containing a test line (T line) and a control line (C line). The T line is pre-coated with another monoclonal anti-H. pylori antibody, and the C line is pre-coated with goat anti-mouse.

Fecal samples are deposited into the sample well and it travels by capillary action.

If antigens are present it will bind to the anti-H.p. Conjugates.

This forms a burgundy colored T line, indicating a positive result.

This test also has an internal control C line which must always be burgundy coloured.
