Glass Tubes
Glass test tubes are one of the most commonly and widely used laboratory glassware. Structurally, glass tubes are hand-length sized tubes open at one end. In chemistry labs, glass tubes are used to handle chemicals and allow researchers to observe the contents of the tube during the reaction. Test tubes are used to heat liquids on a Bunsen burner and is considered to be heat-resistant and is not easily corroded. In biological laboratories, glass tubes are used to grow and maintain cell cultures. Bacteria, fungi, plant cuttings and other cultures may be maintained within a glass tube. It may also be used to handle and store body fluids like blood or urine for testing. Test tubes are also available with caps to prevent external agents from contaminating the contents of the tube. Test tubes of different volume capacities are used in laboratories based on sample volume and the usage. Graduate test tubes with volume markings are also used in labs.
