Transfer buffer is a laboratory grade buffer used in blotting techniques. The blotting technique involves transfer of protein on gel on to the nitrocellulose membrane, here transfer buffer is used to make the process efficient. The standard buffer used as transfer buffer normally contains Tris, Glycine, methanol, and SDS. The buffer has low ionic strength and conductivity which provides optimal conditions for protein to get transferred on nitrocellulose membrane. Store the buffer at room temperature for long term storage.
