Ammonium ferric sulphate by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. Also known as ferric alum and ammonium iron (III) sulphate, this compound is a double salt in the class of alum. This reagent is available as a pale violet crystalline powder which is soluble in water. This is the dodecahydrate form of the salt. Ferric alum can be synthesized by crystallization from a solution of ferric sulphate and ammonium sulphate.

Ammonium ferric sulphate has a variety of applications in chemical and biological sectors. This compound is acidic and toxic to many microbes. It is used in adiabatic refrigeration equipment, biochemical analysis and organic synthesis. It acts as a weak oxidizing agent, which can be reduced to ferrous ammonium sulphate, Mohr's salt. Ferric alum finds applications in waste water treatment, tanning, production of dyestuffs, and as an etching agent in the production of electronic components. The dodecahydrate salt can be used as a catalyst to synthesize isoamyl acetate from acetic acid and isoamyl alcohol. This reagent is suitable for industrial synthesis of products and research applications.
