Anithole oil by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. This is an aromatic, unsaturated ether related to lignols, and is derived from phenylpropene. It is slightly soluble in water but exhibits high solubility in ethanol. It has a melting point between 20 to 21 C, and a boiling point at 234 C. Majorly, anithole is obtained from terpentine-like extracts from trees, however it can also be synthesized from anisole and propionic acid. CAS No.: 104-46-1 Quantity Provided: 500 ml per bottle Molecular formula: C10H12O Molecular weight: 148.21 Assay: minimum 99 % Liquid density: 0.983 - 0.989Anithole oil has a variety of applications in chemical and biological sectors. It is widely used as a flavouring agent in the food industry, in alcoholic drinks ouzo, raki and Pernod. It is also a precursor to several aromatic chemical compounds. Anithole exhibits potent antimicrobial properties against bacteria, yeast, and fungi, and is a promising insecticide. Anithole notably has estrogenic activity. It is furthermore responsible for the formation of a microemulsion that gives many alcoholic beverages containing anithole and water their cloudy appearance. This reagent is suitable for industrial synthesis of products and research applications.
