Antimony bromide by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. Also known as antimony tribromide, this compound is derived from Antimony, a chemical element found in nature mainly as the sulfide mineral, stibnite. This reagent is available as a colourless to yellow crystalline powder which is soluble in water and some organic solvents. Antimony tribromide can be prepared by reacting antimony with elemental bromine, or by the reaction of antimony trioxide with hydrobromic acid. CAS No.: 7789-61-9 Quantity Provided: 500 gm per bottle Molecular formula: SbBr3 Molecular weight: 361.47 Assay: minimum 99 %Antimony bromide has a variety of applications in chemical and biological sectors. Approximately 60% of antimony is consumed in flame retardants, and 20% is utilized in alloys for batteries, plain bearings, and solders. It is also used as a stabilizer and a catalyst for the production of polyethyleneterephthalate. Antimony compounds are used as antiprotozoan drugs, where antimony based treatments are referred to antimonials. Antimony tribromide is used in the production of other antimony compounds, in chemical analysis, as a mordant, and in dyeing. This reagent is suitable for industrial synthesis of products and research applications.
