Azure B by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. Also known as Azur B trimethylthionine chloride, this organic compound is a dye. The reagent is available as a crystalline dark green coloured powder which is soluble in water and sparingly soluble in alcohol. It has a melting point of 205 - 210 C at which it decomposes. This is a metachromatic basic dye, which stains cellular components ranging from green (chromosomes) and blue (nucleoli and cytoplasmic ribosomes), to red color (deposits containing mucopolysaccharides).
