High grade Chloramphenicol Yeast Glucose Agar is supplied by Micromaster. It is available in the form of a cream to yellow coloured homogeneous free flowing powder with a pH in the range of 6.4 to 6.8. It is advisable to store this product between 10-30C in a tightly closed container. Once opened, Chloramphenicol Yeast Glucose Agar should be properly stored in a dry place, after tightly capping the bottle in order to prevent lump formation due to the hygroscopic nature of the product. Store this product in dry ventilated area, away from extreme temperatures and sources of ignition.

Chloramphenicol Yeast Glucose Agar is a selective medium recommended by ISO for selective enumeration of yeasts and moulds in milk and milk products. The medium contains yeast extract, which provides nitrogenous nutrients and vitamin B complex. Dextrose is the energy source. Chloramphenicol, a thermostable antibiotic, suppresses accompanying bacterial flora. This improves shelf-life of the prepared medium and the prepared medium can be used over a period of at least 4 months.
