Copper (II) sulphate by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. Also known as cupric sulphate, this compound is a salt of copper and sulphate. The reagent is available as a blue powder which is soluble in water. It has a melting point at 110 C. Industrially, copper sulphate is produced by treating copper metal with hot concentrated sulphuric acid or its oxides with dilute sulphuric acid. While it is stable under general conditions, this reagent is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. CAS No.: 7758-99-8 Quantity Provided: 500 gm per bottle Molecular formula: CuSO4.5H2O Molecular weight: 249.69 Assay: Minimum 99 % Analytical grade reagentCopper (II) sulphate has a variety of applications in chemical and biological sectors. This reagent finds applications in the organic synthesis of various derivatives. Copper sulphate pentahydrate is widely used as a fungicide. It is used together with calcium sulphate as Bordeaux mixture, to control fungus on grapes, melons, and other berries. It is also popularly used in Fehling's solution and Benedict's solution to test for reducing sugars. Copper (II) sulphate reacts with potassium permanganate to produce an oxidant which is used for the conversion of primary alcohols. This reagent is suitable for industrial synthesis of products and research applications.
