Medium Slant comes with Ofloxacin (2 ug/ml).The egg base medium in it supports a wide variety ofMycobacteriaand can also be used for niacin testing. Glycerol provides fatty acids. Malachite green serves as an inhibitor as well as pH indicator. Blue zone formation is indicative of reduction in pH by Gram positive contaminants (e.g.Streptoccocci) and yellow zone formation of dye destruction by Gram-negative bacilli.
