High grade MacConkey Broth Purple W/ BCP is supplied by Micromaster. It is available in the form of a cream to yellow coloured homogeneous free flowing powder with a pH in the range of 7.2 to 7.6. It is advisable to store this product between 10-30C in a tightly closed container. Once opened, MacConkey Broth Purple W/ BCP should be properly stored in a dry place, after tightly capping the bottle in order to prevent lump formation due to the hygroscopic nature of the product. Store this product in dry ventilated area, away from extreme temperatures and sources of ignition.

MacConkey Broth Purple w/BCP is used for presumptive identification of coliforms from variety of samples like water, milk and food. MacConkey Broth Purple w/ BCP is a modification of MacConkey Medium. Childs and Allen demonstrated the inhibitory effect of neutral red and therefore substituted it by the less inhibitory bromocresol purple dye. BCP is more sensitive in recording pH variation in the medium. Pancreatic digest of gelatin and peptones (meat and casein) present in the medium, provide the essential nutrients, vitamins and nitrogenous factors required for growth of microorganisms. Lactose monohydrate is the fermentable source of carbohydrate. Sodium chloride maintains the osmotic balance in the medium.
