Methyl orange indicator is a high-grade reagent supplied by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries. Other chemical names for this reagent include, Orange III, Gold Orange, Eniamethyl Orange and Helianthine. It is available in the form of an orange coloured solution. Methyl orange is stable as long it is stored as per the recommended storage conditions. Burning or prolonged exposure to heat or flammable sources may produce hazardous decomposition products like carbon oxides. Methyl orange is incompatible with alkali metals, ammonia, peroxide and oxidising agents (strong and mild). It may skin irritation and is harmful if inhaled or ingested. CAS No. 547-58-0 Quantity provided: 500 ml/bottle Molecular formula: C14H14N3NaO3S Molecular weight: 327.334 g/molAny pH indicator is added in small amounts to a solution to determine the pH of any solution visually. Normally an indicator leads to a change in the colour of the test solution, based on the pH. pH indicators are widely used in titrations to determine the extent of a chemical reaction. Or they may be used in any situations requiring the rough estimate of pH range of any solution. Methyl orange is a pH indicator frequently used in titration as it gives a clear and distinct colour variance at different pH values. Methyl orange imparts pink colour in acidic medium and yellow colour in a basic medium. Because it changes colour at the pH of a mid-strength acid, it is usually used in titration for acids. Methyl orange does not have a full spectrum of colour change like a universal indicator, but it has a sharp end point.
