Molybdic acid is a high-grade reagent supplied by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries. Although called molybdic acid, this material consists primarily of ammonium molybdate. Other chemical names for this reagent include, Diammonium molybdate, Ammonium molybdate(VI) and diammonium salt. It is available in the form of white to pale yellow fine powder with no odour. Molybdic acid is slightly soluble in water. It is stable if stored as per the recommended conditions suitable for this reagent. Burning or prolonged exposure to heat or flammable sources can generate hazardous decomposition products like ammonia, nitrogen oxides and metal fumes. Molybdic acid is incompatible with alkali metals. Inhalation of dust can cause respiratory troubles and if ingested, may irritate the digestive system. CAS No. 7782-91-4 Quantity provided: 100 gm/bottle Molecular formula: H8MoN2O4 Molecular weight: 196.024 g/mol Assay: Minimum 85%Ammonium molybdate has a variety of applications in different industries. It is used as an analytical reagent to measure the amount of phosphates, silicates, arsenates and lead in aqueous solution (e.g. pigments, water bodies, etc.). Some of the other uses include, in the production of molybdenum metal and ceramics, in the preparation of dehydrogenation and desulphurisation catalysts, in the fixing of metals, in electroplating, as a negative stain in biological electron microscopy (in 35% (vol/vol) concentration range and in the presence of trehalose) and to perform cryo-negative staining. It can also be used as a fertilizer for crops.
