This leads to the solubilization of proteins and the disintegration of cellular structures of microorganisms. Additionally, the DNase and RNase enzymes are denatured by this medium. Viral Lysis Transport Medium is designed to maintain the integrity of nucleic acids for molecular testing. Furthermore, the lysing property of this medium causes the micro-organisms to lyse and become non-infectious, offering protection to users. The micro-organisms are inactivated and lysed within 30 minutes of being introduced to the medium.
