Vitamin B12 by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. Also known as cobalamin, this is a cobalt-containing vitamin with a corrin ring structure. The reagent is available as a powder which is soluble in water. Vitamin B12 functions as a coenzyme, requiring the enzymes methionine synthase and Methylmalonyl-CoA mutase for its activity. Industrially, vitamin B12 can be prepared by fermentation using Streptomyces griseus. While it is stable under general conditions, this reagent is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.
