10X Tris-Tricine SDS buffer is used in molecular biology experiments for separation of proteins. The buffer has been designed to use with gels containing tris acetate buffer however it can be used with others too. The buffer is used in SDS gel electrophoresis for separating proteins on the basis of Schagger and von Jagow methods wherein the small molecular weight proteins are carried out efficiently. The peptide and SDS complexes move very slowly through Tris-tricine gels which allows the SDS micelles to separate completely from peptides that otherwise might have interfered in the process. It should be stored at 2-8 C for long term use.
