This swab contains a sterile medium consisting of soybean casein digest and 6.5% NaCl that creates a favorable environment for the survival and growth of a broad range of microorganisms, including fastidious ones. The inclusion of 2.0 ml of Tryptic Soy Broth (TSB) medium in the swab promotes optimal bacterial recovery during transportation. To use the Transport Swab, one should swab the desired site with a single swab and insert it into the tube containing the medium. The swab must be delivered to the laboratory as soon as possible, ideally within 24 hours, to ensure reliable test results.
