Proteomics is a broad term with interdisciplinary implications mainly in the realms of molecular biology. A proteome is defined as the entire set of proteins that are produced or modified by an organism or system. Protein detection (with or without antibodies), structure identification or its modification, understanding various biochemical phenomena like phosphorylation or ubiquitination are all part of proteomics and have very diverse & deep implications in medicine, biology, microbiology, neuroscience, pharmacy, and other vital branches of knowledge.

Proteogenomics and Proteome-informatics are two important branches of Proteomics one coupling with genetics and the other with computational approaches.
