Buffered Sodium Chloride Peptone Solution pH 7.0 is supplied by HiMedia. It is a sterile ready prepared media containing 5ml of clear coloured clear solution in bottles. Buffered Sodium Chloride Peptone Solution is generally used for the preparation of test suspension in accordance with harmonized methods of USP, EP, BP & JP. It is advisable to store this ready prepared media between 2-8C. Composition (in gm/L) is as follows:

This medium is suggested for preparation of stable test strain suspension employed for confirming the microbiological testing procedures of non-sterile products. The standardized stable suspensions are used to establish the suitability of this test to detect microorganism in presence of product. Non-fatty products insoluble in water and water-soluble products are diluted/dissolved using this solution. Peptone (meat or casein) serves as nutrient source and maintains the cell viability. Phosphates in the medium act as good buffering agents. Sodium chloride maintains the osmotic balance and cell integrity. Polysorbates reduce surface tension and also inactivate phenolic compound, if present in the test sample.
