Copper (II) sulphate by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. Also known as cupric sulphate, this compound is a salt of copper and sulphate. The reagent is available as a grayish-white powder which is soluble in water. It has a melting point below 560 C. Copper sulphate can be industrially produced by treating copper metal with hot concentrated sulphuric acid or its oxides with dilute sulphuric acid. While it is stable under general conditions, this reagent is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. CAS No.: 7758-98-7 Quantity Provided: 500 gm per bottle Molecular formula: CuSO4 Molecular weight: 159.61 Assay: Minimum 98 %Copper (II) sulphate has a variety of applications in chemical and biological sectors. This reagent finds applications in the organic synthesis of various derivatives. Copper sulphate is popularly used in Fehling's solution and Benedict's solution to test for reducing sugars. It also reacts with potassium permanganate to produce an oxidant which is used for the conversion of primary alcohols. It can also be used as a dehydrating agent for forming and manipulating acetal groups. This reagent is suitable for industrial synthesis of products and research applications.
