Acetamide by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is high grade reagent. Also known as ethanamide, this organic compound is the simplest amide derived from acetic acid. This reagent is available as a colourless powder which is soluble in chloroform, glycerol, benzene and less soluble in water. Chemically, Acetamide can be considered as an intermediate between acetone, which has two methyl (CH3) groups on either side of the carbonyl (CO), and urea which has two amide (NH2) groups in those locations.

Product Features:

  • Chemical Formula: C2H5NO
  • Molecular weight: 59.07
  • Applications: Acetamide has a wide range of applications in various sectors. It is an important precursor to thioacetamide in synthesis applications. Acetamide has been used as a supplement for growth media and for complementation of tlyA transposon mutants. The product was also used as a component for cryoprotectant solution to study the ultrastructural changes in bovine oocytes by using vitrification. The addition of 5% (w/v) aqueous acetamide to a PCR mixture minimizes non-specific annealing of primers and prevents preferential amplification of replication artefacts. Hence this reagent is ideal for synthesis and research applications.
