AMMONIUM FERROUS SULPHATE (hexahydrate) is a product provided by Research-Lab Fine Chem Industries. Laboratory reagents are chemicals which are used in laboratories as a part of experimental procedures. These reagents can be important parts of chemical reactions, analytical reagents or starting material for the production of other materials.
This AMMONIUM FERROUS SULPHATE (hexahydrate) is of laboratory grade. This compound is a double salt of ferrous sulphate and ammonium sulphate. This reagent is available as a bluish green coloured powder which is soluble in water. It has a melting point of 100 to 110 C, and this product is the hexahydrate form of the salt. Mohr's salt can be prepared by dissolving a mixture of hydrated ferrous sulphate and ammonium sulphate in water with sulphuric acid, the resulting solution of which is then crystallized.
Ammonium ferrous sulphate has a variety of applications in chemical and biological sectors. Mohrs salt is used as a source of ferrous ions in analytical chemistry, since the solid has a long shelf life, being resistant to oxidation. It is applied in the Fricke's dosimeter to measure high doses of gamma rays. This reagent is suitable for industrial synthesis of products and research applications.
