Barium chromate by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. Also known as barium tetraoxochromate (VI), this compound is a chromate of barium. This reagent is available as a yellow sand like powder which is insoluble in water, but soluble in strong acids. It has a melting point of 210 C at which it decomposes. Barium chromate can be synthesized by reacting barium hydroxide or barium chloride with potassium chromate. CAS No.: 10294-40-3 Quantity Provided: 100 gm per bottle Molecular formula: BaCrO4 Molecular weight: 253.32 Assay: Minimum 99 % Analytical grade reagentBarium chromate has a variety of applications in chemical and biological sectors. This reagent is frequently used as a carrier for the chromium ions. Furthermore, it is used as a corrosion inhibitive pigment when zinc-alloy electroplating surfaces. Barium chromate can be used to remove impurities and residual moisture from organic dry-cleaning solvents or from petroleum fuels, when mixed with fumaric acid. Furthermore, it is also used in the composition of a catalyst for alkane dehydration. Barium chromate as an oxidizing agent, is useful as a burn rate modifier in pyrotechnic compositions. This reagent is suitable for industrial synthesis of products and research applications.
