0822C 00100 is referred as IMIDAZOLE (glyoxaline)AR under Research Lab Fine Chem Industries catalogue.0822C 00100 IMIDAZOLE (glyoxaline) is an analytical grade reagent. It is a aromatic heterocycle having adjacent nitrogen atoms. It produces a mild alkaline solution when dissolved in water. Many naturally occurring products contain the imidazole ring with different substituent groups. It is present in histidine and histamine. It is amphoteric and can function both as an acid and a base. One application of imidazole is in the purification of His-tagged proteins in immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC). In chemical industries, imidazole has been used to inhibit corrosion on certain transition metals such as copper. The conductivity of such materials decreases due to corrosion and hence it is important to inhibit corrosion. polybenzimidazole (PBI) is a derivative of imidazole and is a thermostable material known for its fire retardancy property. Imidazole is also used in photography and electronic industry. In the pharmaceutical industry it is used in the purification of His-tagged proteins in chromatography. Synthetic imidazole is used in fungicide, antifungal and hypertensive treatments.
